In the Babin Do – Bjelašnica ski resort, the alpine competitions for men were held during the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo.
Nearly 40 years later, a comprehensive tourism master plan has been developed. The goal of this plan is to transform the area from a purely ski-focused resort into a sustainable, year-round destination, creating a future-proof tourism region.
A key component of the master plan is a sustainable development strategy for new ski slopes and cable car facilities, enabling secure expansion of the area. Over five development phases, all surrounding centers are to be integrated into the resort. By the second phase, a doubling of the existing ski area is planned. This will be complemented by the development of year-round leisure activities, with a focus on families, winter and summer sports enthusiasts, hikers, and nature lovers.
The development of the master plan was funded by the EU and created in collaboration with project partners PPG and Ernst & Young.
